When a child goes missing, there's no question what to do – call 911!
When a pet goes missing, there's no single phone number to call for help.
...Until now...
FINDING PAWS Lost Pet Services is that central phone number for the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
We know what it feels like to have a dog escape out of a yard, or to have a cat go missing for days. There's no reason to be alone in the search for your lost family member. WE CAN HELP.
On average, less than 30% of lost dogs and less than 15% of lost cats make it back home. There are many ways you can increase the chances that your dog or cat is one of the lucky ones. Factors that go into successfully recovering a lost pet include the sciences of Lost Animal Behavior, Search Theory, Human Psychology, Blood and Body Fluid Analysis, Deductive Reasoning, Forensic Anthropology, and Dog/Cat Recovery Techniques, among others. You would never be expected to do CPR or conduct a missing child search without being properly trained—you shouldn’t be expected to conduct an extended search for your lost pet without training or help, either. YOUR PET CAN BE FOUND!
Dogs and cats have been found alive and well months after they have gone missing. A typical cat might hide for 7 – 10 days before it needs to come out for food and water. Many lost dogs are picked up by neighbors trying to be helpful and kept in their homes for days or weeks until they see the lost pet posters. DON’T GIVE UP!
Most shelters will only keep an animal for 3 days before making it available for adoption, turning it over to a rescue group, or, in the worst case scenario, euthanizing it to make room for other animals. START THE SEARCH NOW! DON’T ASSUME YOUR PET WILL COME HOME ON ITS OWN.
